Marcus Rashford has been dealing with norovirus this week, but he remains hopeful about being fit to play for Manchester United in the match against Liverpool on Sunday.
The 26-year-old missed the crucial Champions League match against Bayern Munich last week due to illness. The Daily Mail reported that Rashford has been dealing with norovirus, commonly known as the winter vomiting bug. Those familiar with norovirus can attest to the challenging days it brings, making it an unpleasant week for Rashford.
On Friday, he resumed training, and manager Erik ten Hag anticipates his availability for the upcoming visit to Liverpool. However, this hinges on Rashford experiencing no adverse effects from the training session.
The report affirms that the medical staff at Manchester United were confident Rashford wasn't infectious before permitting his return to training.
At a press conference on Friday, Ten Hag mentioned that Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial will be sidelined for the upcoming clash with Liverpool due to injury. However, he anticipates the availability of Rashford and Luke Shaw.
According to the Dutchman, 'Harry will not be available for the coming games, but we don’t think it’s long term.
