Manchester United linked with shock move for unwanted Man City midfielder

In the upcoming summer transfer window, Manchester United is reportedly prioritizing the acquisition of Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder from Manchester City.

The future of the 28-year-old England international has been a subject of speculation, as reported by The Sun.


City manager Pep Guardiola recently expressed regret over the limited game time received by Phillips since his £42 million transfer from Leeds in 2022. Initially, it was believed he rejected us due to a dislike for United.

However, things seem to have changed.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly a strong admirer of Phillips, despite his infrequent appearances, and believes he would be an ideal addition to United's midfield.

According to a source: “United is closely monitoring Phillips' situation. It's anticipated that he will go on loan in January, with a permanent switch in the summer. Ten Hag aims to be at the forefront of this pursuit.”

Additionally, United's new investors are reportedly interested in assembling a nucleus of English players, with Phillips being under consideration.
