Manchester United want to replace Anthony Martial with Lois Openda

On Saturday, Manchester United suffered their first defeat at Old Trafford this season, delivering what could be considered their worst performance of the campaign against Bournemouth.

The 0-3 loss showed how inconsistent the team has been this season. The manager, Erik ten Hag, might be in trouble with scrutiny on his transfers and team choices. Even after a bad performance last week, he started Anthony Martial against the Cherries, but Martial didn't play well.

Man united forward have been so poor

United's attackers haven't been doing well, and it's a mystery why one player has stayed despite seven years of poor performance. The new player, Rasmus Hojlund, hasn't done much better since he hasn't scored in the Premier League yet. Marcus Rashford, who was the top scorer last season, is struggling, and United has scored the fewest goals among the top 14 teams in the English top league. They need more scoring power, but getting new players in January might be doubtful due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's delayed entry.

Scouts from clubs appear to have discovered the perfect prospect — Lois Openda from RB Leipzig, whose impressive performance in the Champions League against Manchester City showcased his talent.

The Belgium player gained significant attention during the summer due to his outstanding performances for RC Lens in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old scored 21 goals, contributed four assists, and secured the fourth-highest goal-scorer position in the league.

He secured a €38.5 million move to the Bundesliga club and has since recorded 14 goals and three assists in 22 appearances across various competitions.

In an exclusive report by The Daily Mirror, it has been revealed that Manchester United is eyeing RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda as their primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window. This pursuit is contingent on successfully parting ways with current players Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho.

The report suggests that a senior United scout, initially tasked with assessing Leipzig's French defender Castello Lukeba, redirected attention to Openda following an impressive performance at The Etihad. The scout promptly relayed this information to manager Erik ten Hag, signaling the club's keen interest in the Belgian striker.

As United plans for potential departures and aims to bolster its attacking lineup, Openda has emerged as a serious target for the club. The article implies a strategic shift in focus for Manchester United as they assess options for the upcoming transfer window.

"Leipzig recognizes the significant asset in Openda, impressed by his speed, direct threat, and goal-scoring prowess, leading to a perceived doubling of his value to £75 million. A January transfer might prove challenging given Leipzig's valuation, prompting curiosity about whether INEOS will pursue British players upon their arrival.

Tottenham has also expressed interest, and additional teams are anticipated to enter the race, drawn by Openda's noteworthy performances in the Bundesliga."

On Saturday in the Premier League, Manchester United experienced a subpar performance, arguably their worst of the season, resulting in a 0-3 defeat to Bournemouth on their home turf. Just days following an admirable performance against Chelsea midweek, Manchester United's abject display in a 0-3 loss to Bournemouth raises concerns. Notably, this season has been marked by a noticeable absence of a defined playing style under ETH, contrasting with the previous season's successful pattern that led to a third-place finish in the Premier League and Carabao Cup victory.
